A yellow grossular garnet from Tanga in northern Tanzania. These garnets (also called hessonite) have a unique characteristic most often called roiling, treacle or the whisky in water effect that distinguishes them from other gems. The intensity of this phenomena varies from stone to stone. These stones have a range of colors from colorless to cognac with the majority having a golden yellow color.
