13.59 carat Leuco Grossular Garnet
A leuco grossular garnet from Tanga in northern Tanzania. These garnets (also called hessonite) have a unique characteristic most often called roiling, treacle or the whisky in water effect that distinguishes them from other gems. The intensity of this phenomena varies from stone to stone. These stones have a range of colors from colorless to cognac with the majority having a golden yellow color.
This is one of the very few that is close enough to colorless to be called "leuco"
